The three most important aspects of our superior cooler insulation and how our coolers work better are 1) the type of plastic we use, 2) the insulation inside and 3) the super tight gasket. The advanced technology Galaxy Coolers uses is the foundation to the performance of our coolers. These attributes have been chosen from scientific research and rigorous field-testing.

The plastic we use to make our cooler is Polyethylene/PE. The chemical make up of this kind of plastic creates the highest R-value per millimeter of any other plastic. R-value is a materials resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value the better the insulation. The thicknesses of our cooler shells, inner and outer are approximately 5 mm or ¼ inch thick each. This creates a half an inch of durable and insulating commercial grade plastic. This is the same plastic used to make perimeter walls in hockey rinks and anchor chain slots on ships, two of the most punishing environments around.

To attach these walls of Polyethylene and add tremendous amounts of insulating properties, Galaxy Coolers fills the walls of our coolers with a secret formula of the densest polyurethane insulation foam in production. This becomes a closed cell foam insulation creating millions of air and space barriers inside the cooler to insulate cold inside and stop heat from transferring in. You see polyethylene and polyurethane do not conduct energy at all, it insulates. Polyurethane compound also has a very high R-value. The combination of these two materials creates insulation as follows in this graph.
